“In newspaper photos of missing girls from the seventies, most looked like me: white girls with mousy brown hair.” The lovely bones is a fantastic story that reflects an array of different forms of mourning. As the Salmons try to piece their life back together after the murder of their daughter it is clear to see there’s an obvious split in the family. Each member takes on a different role of the grieving process. Whether it be denial or vengeance the lovely bones goes into depth about the hardship of a family that is broken because of the actions of a monster.
