Repeat after me, religion doesn't excuse being abusive and controlling. There were so many horrible things going on that largely went unchecked and that ending.... no thank you.
Graphic: Ableism, Child abuse, Emotional abuse, and Grief
Moderate: Death and Homophobia

I did not like this book throughout because of the content warnings I will mention below. It was not my cup of tea and I didn't like the ending because of this.
She stays with her father at the end of all this and he is honestly a monster. I think it should have ended with family therapy and their neuro-divergent daughter being placed with a more kind family member. It's crazy just how badly they treated her and it was brushed over at the end.
I wanted more resolution then that and I don't think she would be truly happy staying with them as parents. </spoiler?
