I relate a lot to someone who loves books, coffee, and cheesecake as much as Jill.

This is a fun, quick easy read. I enjoy returning to South Cove for these holiday novellas. This one is centered around St. Patrick's Day. Once again the town festival doesn't go as planned when a festival goer is found dead on the beach. The mystery wasn't that complicated but these are such quick reads that it works. Also, I'm a bit intrigued by where the author is headed with Jill's character. This is the second novella where she has seen and spoken to someone nobody else has seen.

I voluntarily read a digital ARC provided to me by the publisher through Netgalley.

Who killed a sweet girl on Saint Patrick’s Day?

Corned Beef and Causalities by Lynn Cahoon is an excellent short read about the day of Saint Patrick’s Day and the day after dealing with the after-effects of what happened. Lynn Cahoon is a great author, and I love the characters in this series.

What I like:

  • That it is a short read so it was an easy read.

  • Jill is a great character, and I love how she solved this mystery.

  • Greg is a great boyfriend and police chief/detective. He tries not to let Jill get involved, but he knows that he can’t stop her.

  • The way that she uncovers the clues are neat, especially since she learns them from the other locals.

Five Star

Corned Beef and Causalities by Lynn Cahoon is a fantastic cozy mystery that is part of a great series. Jill, Greg, and friends are my new friends, and I can't wait to read more of their adventures. Jill is a fabulous character that has a beautiful personality. Greg is also a great character; he has a good relationship with Jill. I am giving it a five-star rating and recommending it to anyone that likes cozy mysteries.

A short and fun trip back to South Cove with Jill, Jackie and the rest of the crew. Greg has to solve the case after a young woman is murdered during the St. Patrick’s Day festival. Jill meets the victim before she is murdered and of course gets pulled in as always. The clues add up fairly easily and quickly. Not an in depth mystery but still a fun visit to one of my favorite fictional towns and groups of friends. Looking forward to my next visit!

I received this book from NetGalley and was not required to post a positive review. All thoughts posted are my own.

So, I've been reading this series for a while. When this one was named, but hadn't come out yet, I added it to my list and didn't think much about it. It came out and I saw it was only $1.99 on Kindle, so I snapped it up. Every list I saw it on said it was number 10 in the series. But it's not. This is a short story. Usually when a short story is part of a series, it's labeled as a half....so this one should really be called 9.5. I hate short stories. Even when they're a part of a series I like I just skip them. They never seem to advance the story arc of the series and they're too short for a good, detailed story. So I'm annoyed.

Now that that rant is over, the story: the festival here wasn't typical of this town and felt out of place. The murder didn't happen until 30% in and there wasn't much sleuthing to be done. The reveal at the end was dumb and too coincidental.

South Cove is trying out a St Patrick's day weekend festivity since the celebration is a Saturday. The shops are all quite busy and unfortunately there are a lot of drunks. But a girl comes into Jill's store for a cup of coffee with a group of friends. She talks to Jill a few minutes with her coffee is prepared and tells her she thinks she will marry one of the men of the group. Maybe her dad will be pleased that he is wealthy, even if he isn't Irish. The next day Jill learns that she was the girl found dead on the beach that evening. She is very upset and wants to do all she can to help Greg find the murderer. Of course, that gets her into some hot water with Greg who is afraid she'll get in too deep and he won't be able to save her.

This is like visiting South Cove during St. Patrick's Day... I won't complain.

Another holiday novella in the Tourist Trap series and another quick visit to South Cove.

I like these quick check ins, but I will admit that the timeline bothers me. All of these novellas are set earlier in the series, and I want to know what's going on NOW. We were left with a bit of a mystery about Aunt Jackie at the end of A Killer Party, and I want an explanation.

This one seemed a bit sad to me, and I wasn't a fan of the abrupt ending. It felt rushed.

I am waiting very impatiently for more than a novella in this series.

I enjoyed this book. It is a quick read, taking a bit over 2 hours. It is a part of the series, A Tourist Trap, however I thought of it as more of a holiday stand alone. I was entertained.
