This may not be for everyone’s brain but golly is it for mine. It’s as if you are situated in a merry-go-round of time and thought and you are just desperate to know the person spinning your round.

A particularly gorgeous passage: “I will trail around the porticoes, clamber up the stairwells on and on, traipse back and forth across the small bridges, my hand scuffing the damn wall always, scuff-blackened by the steely centipedes, the ivy berries, the moss manes, the slanting fungi.”

I liked this book conceptually more than in execution. There was some truly stunning prose in here, but the sum of the parts was ultimately too disjointed for me. It reminded me of To The Lighthouse when it was at its best.
