It's no big surprise that a graphic novel focused on Captain Phasma is not great. What Phasma teaches Disney is that you can't create new Boba Fetts at will. Also, there's more to a compelling character than just a neat outfit. Given how quickly Phasma is defeated in both of the movies in which she appears, it's hard to take any story about her very seriously.

This story starts with, to me, a kind of confusing setup. The timestamps and different narrations made it hard for me to figure out initially why Phasma was chasing Sol Rivas, and I never understood whether Rivas was intentionally trying to implicate Phasma, or if the whole thing is just coincidence.

From that opening, the story devolves into a typical Star Wars trope: main characters marooned on a hostile planet; no ships or weapons available; must figure out ingenious scheme to succeed. It's not an interesting structure this time, because I couldn't care less about any of the characters involved.

The one nice thing about this book is the artwork. Though it doesn't always make the story as clear as it could be, the art by Marco Checchetto is quite beautiful—some of the best Star Wars graphic novel art and coloring that I've seen.

The art is beautiful and the story propulsive. what more could you want? Another great Star Wars comic to tide you over until the new movie.

I feel like this comic is best read as a companion piece to the Phasma novel. They work well together. The comic hints at things character-wise for Phasma that the novel has more time to explore in-depth. The artwork is gorgeous. I especially like some of the design work here, too, as with Phasma's disguise. the story is a quick one, but I thought it was a lot of fun and had a good amount of energy to it.

The art is stunning. Phasma is a jerk. I liked Pilot and the new aliens. If you’re really jumping at the bit to know how Phasma got out of the trash compactor after episode VII, pick this up... otherwise don’t bother.

Seriously, this character is a fraud. They wanted us believe that Phasma is some key character, but it’s not. Only hype.

The artwork in this is STUNNING, but unfortunately the same can not be said for the story. There are some good ideas --- Phasma is hunting down the few people who know she is responsible for lowering the shields on Starkiller base, and leading it to its doom. Sounds like a fun time, in theory. But the plot involves sea monsters and random characters who are there with no context. I had no idea what was happening or why for most of the time.
The story is trying to redeem Phasma and make her into the badass character she seemed to be before she turned out to be kinda lame in TFA. I wish it had gotten there.

But still, this is worth reading for the art alone.

I'm really enjoying the different Star Wars comics. I think i have liked the "main" story lines better, but the offshoots are still entertaining.

I would definitely recommend them to fans!
