**Contains minor plot spoilers for future books in paragraphs 3 and 4**

This book has been sitting on my bookshelf for almost a year now and I truly don’t know why I didn’t pick it up sooner! As a member of BookTok, I’ve been hearing about how incredible it is for what feels like forever and I can honestly say it 100% lived up to the hype. I haven’t read a dystopian novel in years, and this book was so perfect to get me back into the genre again! I will be recommending this book to everyone I know!

Shatter Me follows seventeen- year old Juliette whose touch is deadly. Held by the Reestablishment for the majority of her life, she begins to contemplate what it really means to be human- and if she even is one. Reconnected with someone from her past who she never expected to see again, she finally gets out and goes on one of the most riveting adventures I’ve ever read about!

There were so many things about this book that I absolutely loved about this story, I don’t even know where to start. Firstly, the pacing makes such a complex story so accessible and easy to read! I flew through this book (once I had the time to actually sit down and read) and the story is so thrilling! I’m going to keep this review spoiler free, but I also really loved the overall arc of the story, and it was so interesting to see where all of the characters ended up at the end. From the beginning of the story, seeing her 264 days into confinement to seeing her at the end of the story surrounded by a community, the character development in this book is truly impeccable. Beyond that, I absolutely loved the side characters, particularly Kenji who provided the absolute perfect amount of comic relief. I will warn you though, that it ends on a cliffhanger, so I highly recommend having book two- and the novella that goes along with the first one- ready for when you finish!

With all of that being said, like all books, there were some things I didn’t love so much. Again, I’m going to try to keep this spoiler-free, but I will say I wasn’t a huge fan of the love interest. Their whole relationship felt just a bit too easy/ perfect, but I know a love triangle develops in later books, so that’s probably for a reason. I also thought that the beginning felt a bit rushed, although, in reality, that just helps you get to the meat of the story quicker. I do still think it could have been a bit flushed out more though.

I think it’s pretty clear how much I loved this book, and I cannot wait to continue the series!
