Writing was engaging and good. Plot and characters kinda blended into one, which didn't help with the Whodunnit aspect... but I didn't really care about the characters to give a damn either way. None of them felt interesting or likeable. Felt like the female murderer at the end was meant to be a shocker, but I was so fed up trying to keep track of who fancied who when i just wanted ro finish it so I could say I had....

Always satisfying reads, these books. There was a moment where I thought
Spoiler Kenny was going to be revealed as the killer in the end, and felt annoyed because it made no sense in the context of his internal thoughts during the pov chapters
but liked how that twist was done. Usually I have some kind of suspect list in these books but it was hard to figure out in this one. A fun mystery!

Was liking the story but had too many things on the go and I think I was reading in the same genre too long. Will come back to finish!

As a fan of the Shetland TV series, I was looking forward to reading this. For the most part, I felt the portrayal of Jimmy Perez matched the TV show - and the overall setting and mood definitely felt familiar. It was interesting to find a few differences, though, and get more backstory on Perez.

I was only disappointed with how the actual mystery was resolved. To me the ending came out of left field and event the explanation didn't make sense.

I'll still try more from the series, though.
