Another fantastic story from Joe Abercrombie. I am loving coming back to his books and listening to them on Audible. Steven Pacey did another great job with all the many voices too.
This book has always been my favorite stand-alone story from Joe, full of betrayal, gory fights/ battles, and truly great characters. I love how self aware his books are and that they are full of 'real' people with emotions, reactions and reasoning. They lie and cheat and delude themselves and pick and choose what they are willing to do or believe in and are just generally very relatable and despicable at once and it makes for the best stories in my opinion. They moralize and philosophize and then turn around and kill, run away or completely change their minds. These are truly my kind of books.
Highly recommended.

6.5/10 — would be a 7/10 but i’m knocking off a half point for the repeated use of the word “squelch” in every sex scene

i think one has to be in the right place at the right time to be sucked into a story ... this was not the right time for me and this book to click ... maybe in the future i will go back and try again but for right now ... too gory and too hateful/revenge ... sigh ... enough of that in the world already -

This should be adapted to a movie and directed by Tarantino
