This sequel to The Bourne Identity was a disappointment. I don't say that lightly as I was a great fan of the first novel. Where were the letdowns? It was convoluted for the sake of convolutedness, the storyline was not as fast paced, gripping or original as the first one and the story had few of the surprises which were in Identity.

I can only hope that the third in the series is more impressive....

The beginning of this book was a little slow, but once it got going, it was another amazing story! Ludlum amazes me with his ability to write a book that sucks me in. This was nothing like the movie...at all...but these characters are definitely well-developed and I found myself being concerned about what was going to happen to them. So, it's not just an exciting adventure story, but also a story with some oomph behind it. I can't wait to read the third book! :)

While these books are well written, it sometimes feels overly detailed, making the pacing quite slow. I'm interested enough to read the next book in the series, but I have to motivate myself to read the next one.

From chapter to chapter I enjoyed this book. It starts at a break neck pace and stays there. Almost to a fault. I kept thinking I just had to be close to the ending only to find out I still had 2/3 of the book left and that feeling never really left.

Loses a full star for the completely random and completely unnecessary rape. It literally added nothing to the book and it's forgotten as abruptly as it appeared. It's only a couple pages, which only reinforces my belief it should've been cut entirely.
