There is so much to take in with this book. I really loved all the metaphors BUT could of used less. I found myself getting lost on what he was trying to say in some parts. Maybe they are lessons I haven’t learned yet? Not sure. Some parts really clicked and made since and others I was a bit confused.

This book was suggested to me as a different way of looking at the warrior. Many friends had encouraged me to embrace my warrior side but I associated the word "warrior" with violence. In this book Trungpa describes the type of warrior that could (and does) change the world through non-violence. I would recommend this to anyone wishing to be a peaceful warrior.

REVIEW
Sometimes a book just doesn't do it.

I love Buddhism and spirituality, but something about the construction and execution of this one just left me underwhelmed.

Maybe it was just beyond my focus or understanding of Buddhism.

If you are interested in spirituality, I'd point you in a different direction to start.

Listened to the audiobook. Loved it at first but got a bit lost in the warrior/windhorse symbolism.

A great and concise overview of the Shambhala Warrior path of Trungpa's Tibetan Buddhism. As much as there may be reasons to question the Shambhala teaching methods and structure, the qualities of Tibetan Buddhist practice are very useful all the same.

This particular book tends to focus, as the title would suggest, on relating to fear and thus anxiety issues. I think some of the more esoteric aspects of Windhorse training near the end could be made clearer for practice methods, but good to listen to often enough to get the message clearer.

The narrator had quite a thick English accent, but was otherwise fine.
