I recommend the audiobook version read by the author. What a strong and at the same time vulnerable voice - I love her use of the “unruly body.”

A book to make you realize there aren't enough fat authors represented in this space and to advocate for more. Gay tells her story of growing up fat in a family who encouraged dieting from an early age and in a world which remains opening fatphobic. I know more fat authors want to tell their story, it's up to us to let them do so.
