surprised to find out that i didnt hate it as much as i expected myself to, i like the roles-reversed feeling of persephone being in charge and hades being a little simp as much as he likes to pretend otherwise. the author makes an attempt at a plot. said plot is very childish and anticlimactic but better that than overly complicated plot twists. I also like that the story stays true to its simplicity, at the bottomline its just a love story between two characters. As for the greek mythology involved, that plays whatsoever no part in the story - but i appreciate the creative liberties that the author took with this. generous 3 stars because i havent finished a book in a while (and also credits to mim for buddy reading it with me <3)

I started this book a month ago and REALLY enjoyed it!

HADES: Omgosh he was amazing and so Dreamy!.. I love that he was very insistent that everyone has consent to their life. Also when he was more concerned about Persephone’s safety than even she was so adorable!! I didn’t like too much that he was perceived as having less power than Zeus but I understand that, that was basically the whole dynamic of the book! It was hot and heavy through most of the book which was very enjoyable!

PERSEPHONE: She was so powerful and knew what she wanted. She did have many different “MASKS” she wore during her time in Olympus that made it look like she was nothing more than a hot face. When she was with Hades she was herself and didn’t let anything stop her from speaking her mind and being honest with Hades.

The Plot: It was a great story idea but I’m not sure the ending was executed well. It felt kind of just put together last minute. There wasn’t much action between Zeus and Hades. Also the questions we had about Hades’ parents death was not answered at all just left us kind of wondering what that all had to do w/ Hades. I also don’t like that Hades wasn’t all that dark and brooding. He was mostly soft and broken. I would have liked to see him more dark and dangerous.

Anyways the ending is the main reason I rated this a 4 star it just felt very anticlimactic and the deal between Demeter and Persephone wasn’t much of an intimidation factor against Hades and her.
