After reading Hannaford Prep, and the Butcher of the Bay duet, getting to dive into a different (yet still connected) world of J Brees was amazing! I love all things MC, so Angel’s book being centered around a club was so fun to read.

Angel is the definition of a survivor. Her life has been hard, she’s been dealt a crap hand but she does everything it takes to get herself on a better track. Even if that means driving herself into a new town, knowing no one and accepting a job at the local MC owned strip club.

Tomi Callaghan, a member of the Unseen MC, oversees The Boulevard and from the moment Angel steps onto that stage, he knows he’s been “struck”. All the men in his family have either been in love at first sight... or a different kind of struck that’s definitely more of a curse. All Tomi knows is that Angel is his and he’s not going to let her go.

There are all kinds of obstacles, and a dark past that comes back to haunt Angel, but their love story is one of my all time favorites. It’s absolutely worth the read!!

Although the plotline seems alright, I think there are some missing parts.

First, I felt like the plot was made of bits a pieces that aren't all connected together. I felt like the story wasn't like a river flowing you got caught up into, but more like a stuttering speech you desperately tried to understand, but again, maybe it is just me.

Moslty, I stuggled with the characters: I thought they weren't precisely introduced and therefore had troubles understanding what was happening, who was speaking, why were some characters reacting a certain way towards others.

Nevertheless,I enjoyed the character development we could see, how both characters realise they are falling for each other, even if it borders on Stockholm syndrom - which is a plot I'm a bit uncomfortable with, but that's only on me. I thought the blatant lack of respect quite hurtful and therefore struggle with Angel's decisions of pleasing him, and Tomi's constant blaming of Angel because he couldn't keep far from her had started to anger me quite a bit, and the fact that he was constantly angry was heavy on the plot; but I really was thankful for the character development and seeing him change his mind slowly. Which is why I didn't stop reading the book until I got some of the character development because otherwise I was just disappointed towards a book I looked forward to.

If this review offends anyone, please pardon me - this is not in anyway a professional review, just my opinion on this book as a romance reader.
I am not by any means saying this book is hard, I understand it was made from many hours of work and I don't want to deter anyone, it is just what I thought and again, I might be wrong or missing things - and am deeply sorry if I am.

J Bree is fast becoming a new addiction for me- and Angel Unseen is my favorite book of hers to date. This has everything I want in an MC romance- violence, suspense, ample sexiness, and a lot of heart.

In this Mounts Bay spin-off set in my home state of Mississippi, we dive deep into the seedy, bloody MC world of the Unseen. Our mysterious heroine, Angel, is starting fresh in Coldstone, home of the dominating Unseen MC. She’s looking for fast cash with limited questions, and decides to use her many talents as a stripper at the MC owned club. She just wants to go unnoticed, earn money and go to college, and to find a way to live her dream- but her fresh face and captivating stage presence quickly gather much attention- both good and bad- she’s alluring, sexy, and doggedly principled in how she’ll earn, something that keeps the house packed but earns her a reputation as being cold and arrogant. No attention is quite as life changing, however, as that of the huge, tattooed biker who runs the club. Tomi is immediately ‘struck but this dark haired siren, and he’s not happy about it. Being ‘struck is a curse, and strippers always have baggage. And boy, does she ever. The desire for each other is undeniable, but Angel’s secrets and distances are a constant barrier, and Tomi isn’t quite willing to be distracted by this newcomer- a woman he can’t deny is “his” but he’s not quite ready to embrace. And that, my friends, sets up for a delightfully gritty and intense push-pull romance swirling with MC drama, secrets, a colorful menagerie of delightful secondary characters (familiar and new) and chock full of suspense.

Like most J Bree stories, this love story isn’t easy- the road to love is paved with darkness, blood, trauma, and tears- but together? Oh man, these two are explosive. Tomi is a MC hero dream- rough around the edges, dangerous, gritty, possessive and protective with a mouth of a sailor and a heart of gold underneath his edge. And this man in the bedroom? HOSE ME DOWN. But Angel is who really stole my heart. This strong, brave, wounded woman is a fighter. She’s reserved, but firm in who she is and is willing to be. This is a character who lives with integrity, quiet but resolute, broken but brave. I wanted to tear down the world for her- and I was not alone- Tomi would cut his own heart out for her.

I have continued to marvel at J Bree’s attention to detail- from character, setting place, story interconnections. Every person, every word, every detail has a purpose- and often one greater than we can yet to understand. That is because J Bree is a world builder- she’s not just giving us action or interesting characters (although we get that too). We get this entire living and breathing ecosystem that is arresting, immersive, and consuming. I can hear the thumping music in the strip club, smell the fumes from the motorcycles in the air, hear the rustle of leather cuts as these characters move around. That is how vividly J Bree creates her worlds. And even more incredible, she so seamlessly interweaves every character and every story- a complicated but clear web of interconnection and meaning. That is some outstanding story telling.

The characters are also just so fantastic, each one fully dimensional and integral. Of course, I’m desperate for Rue and Poe’s story, but I am delighted at seeing friends old and new for me to adore. J Bree gives each one care and attention, each one a purpose. J Bree doesn’t hold back- she puts them through it- but that makes us loves them and their connection so much more. This is a story about the power of the love you choose- whether its the love of your chosen brothers or your soulmate- and how that is the love that defines and inspires you. That is the love that makes you whole, no matter how dark the journey to get there.

Whether you are new to J Bree or a hard core fan, you’ll love this story. It is thrilling, heart breaking, intense, and hopeful. And the ending? The ending will make your heart completely stop. I’m not sure it will start beating again until we find out what is next for these characters. What a wild ride!
