I started this months ago and gave up after the Quentin chapter. But I kept hearing about it so I decided to try to again and I’m so glad I did because I ended up loving it. It went in a completely different direction than I was expecting and I loved that about it. Adored Eleanor and Santiago and Zoe.

I really loved how Mellors fleshes out her characters and how she switches to tertiary characters’ povs to provide more of a story. i think the ending is perfect, i really loved it. her simple descriptions are beautiful.

4.5 - incredibly well written. Gritty portrayal of a marriage that somehow has a happy ending in a way you wouldn’t expect. Great New York book. The best character has only two chapters devoted to her but they make a mark! The main characters annoyed me but that’s ok. Loved it
