I don't write reviews often, but I felt I had to tell everyone what an amazing book this was. I read a lot of yound adult fantasy/romance books and they often will have the same formula (which I love). This book did not follow any formula I have seen. I didn't like any of the supernatural forces in this book, vampires and werewolves are not good guys. I might like the other blood singers but am not sure yet...
I was rooting for Julia to find happiness, but you're not sure what she should choose (or does she have a choice?). Everyone wants her for their own reasons, but it seems like Julia has no say through out the book. Everytime things start looking better for her, something horrible happens. I was so depressed through most of the book, right along with Julia but I was still rooting for her to find happiness. I am eagerly awaiting the next book, I really want to know what is going to happen next to Julia. I just hope something good happens for her finally.

Good storyline but way too much back and forth. Was starting to get lost. Wanted to finish it but just couldn't get into the story that well

This book seemed very disjointed. I will not be reading the rest of the series but thought I'd share why.
There are too many view points, and with the way that it jumps between them can make it hard to tell who is the one relating the story. Add in some details that don't get fully explained or explained badly and it makes you have to read it multiple times to understand what is going on. The time skips were done pretty well considering, but I also feel like there was some important steps missing because of the time skips.

There are quite a few common elements between this series and the savage series but I enjoyed this very much and moved right onto book two.

This book reads like a poorly written stream of conscious. Very choppy and lacking of detail. I kept reading hoping that it would get better because the concept was so different. Alas, it was not meant to be.

This is kind of hard to give a star rating to.
Some of the first things I noticed were the hopping between past/present, as well as POV. I found that I actually kind of liked it. It lures you along, giving small details. You start off rooting for MC, then you find yourself relating with the vamps, and then finally get a peek into the weres, the singers, as well as a small dip into the police investigating the whole thing. Who do I cheer for?!?! It jerks your feelings and loyalties all over the place, and it was entirely unpredictable. Loved it.
This does lead to one little problem though. The cheese factor. I was constantly flipping the page to find someone else who wanted Julia all for themselves. While a little redundant, it did lead to an exciting climax!
Blodgett's style does take some getting used to, but I have to say that I absolutely adored her graphic metaphors and similes. It gives the reader a very clear picture to run with. The characters are each unique, with distinct personalities and voices. Their dialogue is believable and great fun. I do wish that the whole thing had gone through one more round of edits, just to add clarity to some sections, but I won't ever judge a book harshly based solely on that.
In the end, based purely on entertainment value, I give it a solid four stars. Even when I would put it down for the night, it would call to me, urging me to read just one more chapter. Just as the sequel calls to me now...

Starts of with great promise, but falls flat. Too much back and forth with memories and other characters that we don't properly meet.
