I really enjoyed this book. I would have given it 5 stars but the beginning really dragged on. I only managed to get through it be picturing a sweaty Mathew McConaughey with a southern accent as Jake Brigance. Otherwise I would have given up 50 pages in. But I'm glad I stuck with it because the latter half was worth it.

Another Grisham classic. Great sequel to A Time to Kill.

Grisham does it again

Another fantastic read, I couldn't put this one down. If you're new to Grisham I would recommend you read "A Time To Kill" first.

This book was initially a bit slow and I was starting to think I'd be bored. Once the ground work was setup, it did get interesting and I was invested in how things would play out. There are more details and storylines than are truly needed but it does help create the small town atmosphere for readers to truly get a sense of how the story plays out.

Welcome back to Ford County and the world of Jack Brigance, Ozzie Walls, and Lucian Wilbanks. It's been three years since the trial Carl Lee Hailey and the players are still where they were when we left. Any fame and glory was short lives, Jack is in a fight with the insurance companies over a settlement for his destroyed home and is still pounding the pavement for clients. Now a middle aged attorney in middle of nowhere Mississippi he seems to have picked up the typical Grisham baggage of being disgruntled in his practice of law.

That is until a new client sends him a letter....

This book really is a return to Grisham in good form. It seemed fresh and it was nice to revisit Ford County and characters I enjoyed in the first book.

If you gave up on Grisham go back and read A Time to Kill and then pick up Sycamore Row. It will remind you of why you first enjoyed his writing.

This book reminds me why I started reading Grisham in the first place...of course, besides the appeal of a thick juicy book ;)

A very worthy sequel to [b:A Time to Kill|32542|A Time to Kill (Jake Brigance, #1)|John Grisham|https://d.gr-assets.com/books/1390195915s/32542.jpg|1804929].

Nothing surprising here - an easy read driven by the story. You could see the twists coming from miles away and things wrapped up very neatly at the end, but, again, if that's what you're expecting, you won't be disappointed.

Good story. I always like Grisham books but this one was just a bit too long and after awhile I sped through sections to keep it moving.
