“Frozen Detective“ by Amanda Flower the 2nd instalment in “A Piper and Porter Mystery” series. What a great follow up to book one! I really enjoyed this story, and I can’t wait for the next instalment!

As they dig up buried grudges, Darby’s jealous ex-boyfriend on the police force thinks they’re wasting their time. Will Darby and Tate figure out who the killer is…or will it become another cold case?

I love Tiny the Saint Barnard, he was adorable

I enjoyed the tension between Darby, her ex Austin and Tate Porter. Part of me wonders if Tate liked Darby back in school and that’s the friction between him and Austin.

The mystery is interesting and well plotted, and I loved the characters which are well developed.
I kept guessing and second-guessing myself on whodunnit right to the very end.

I recommend this book to all my cozy lover friends.

I requested and received an advance reader copy of this book from Hallmark Publishing and Netgalley. All thoughts and opinions are my own

I find Amanda Flower's books easy and enjoyable to read. She has not had a series that I didn't like. This is the second in the Porter and Piper detective agency series. Tate Porter is new to the agency, as Darby Piper used to run it with his late aunt. They are kind of awkward and are still learning how to work together. Tate's ex girlfriend, Cecily Madd comes in to the office and says she wants to hire them to figure out who has been sending her husband threatening letters. Cecily's husband, Dr. Garrett Madd is well known in the skin care industry. Darby begrudgingly agrees, mostly because she is tired of doing background checks.

The case is made more interesting by the fact that they have to pretend to be dating and attend a New Years Eve launch party at Cecily's family resort up in the mountains. Cecily is refusing to show Tate and Darby the threatening letters and is being super stingy with information, which is rubbing Darby the wrong way. The morning after Dr. Madd makes a huge announcement, changing everything, Darby finds him dead on the slopes with an arrow in his back.

This was a cool book and had a locked room feeling, with the guests being stranded on a mountain. I give this review voluntarily after receiving an ARC from NetGalley.

Classic fun mystery, nothing mind blowing but I’ll definitely pick up from this author again.

I enjoyed the mystery of this. I guessed who the culprit was, but was still surprised.
Tate and Darby have great chemistry.
