A tough look at what happens and who is impacted by systemic racism and police brutality. This is a much needed book and one I will whole heartedly recommend to everyone. A great way to take a walk in other peoples shoes and remember to check your perspective and privilege.

This book hit hard, and is so important for young and older readers alike! I think it was genius how the author wove history through this and how it all connected to Jerome. This is a book I will definitely have stocked in my classroom library!

This was a very powerful read!! It brought together two boys (of different times) who died too young, and the change that they bring to the living. The final words from Jerome were so emotional and moving - I 100% recommended this!

This middle grade book about the ghost of a Black boy shot by a white police officer REALLY packs a punch considering it's barely 200 pages long. I appreciated the focus on honoring the dead and bearing witness to injustice, but I was a little surprised at how quickly Jerome embraces forgiveness, and I would have liked to see that discussed in a bit more detail. I can see this book being a powerful conversation starter for middle grade classrooms and families looking to discuss police brutality and racism.
