It’s an alright murder mystery story but the level of stereotypes and profiling is difficult to listen to.

And this time it's personal. Callahan investigates the murder of a family member. I didn't like this one as much as the first 2. There was less use of the cleaning crew and less Edna. I also found the events and reveal to be a little far-fetched. I'm still going to listen to more of the series but I will take a break first.

3.5 stars. I’m still enjoying this mystery series... easy reading with enjoyable characters. Given that series began in the early 90s it can be dated at times, for example mentioning long distance calls and using a car phone, but it kind of makes the story more fun to read! This series has quick pacing with twists and turns that aren’t wildly far fetched. I will pick up another Callahan Garritty story in the future!

I wasn't into the story as much as the previous books in this series but I do like how Callahan unraveled the clues to the killer.

Callahan is running against her family when her cousin is killed. The family doesn't want her to investigate her cousin death. Her cousin was killed in front of her 9 year old son. There is something that is bothering her about the death of her cousin and she isn't about to sit there and do nothing.

This book reflects the views of a white lady living in Atlanta in the 90's. It's kind of racist and sexist, which made an uncomfortable read. Unfortunate, as the story was very good. It's just let down by the bigotry.

Light and fun but not for those who mind Southern stereotypes and coarse language.
