This was another fun little glimpse into the gods, this time into Athena before she started getting sick. She finds herself living in Miami where she catches the eye of a young runaway who is convinced she's a vampire. While Athena plays along of a bit, the charade soon turns deadly and Athena realizes that alone is how she will always be. A short story but it definitely took and a sad and brutal turn at the end. But it was a nice glimpse into how Athena was before the current war started.

Tragic collision of desire and expectations
An immortal goddess living in Miami is mistaken for a vampire. The story reminded me a little the Sonja Blue story Vampire King of the Goth Chicks. It had the same sense of irony and tragedy.

Il primo libro della trilogia mi è piaciuto parecchio, ma purtroppo questa storia/novella è stata solo...inutile. E nemmeno troppo bella nella sua inutilità.

Another great short story, loved the twist at the end! Must read the first full length book now!

Not half bad, and the tough/hardened narrator attitude fit the situation. Short and not outstandingly great, but a decently executed story.

I really love Kendare Blake. She's very good at eliciting the feels and this one was like... nauseatingly painful. Dayum.

Athena has moved to Miami. While wondering the streets & food venders at night she starts to be followed by a young man. Lark, who is 15, is obsessed with vampires. And he is sure that the goddess Athena is a vampire!
