What a mind trip!! Boldt's romantic intrigue and supernatural mashup plots are insanely good and A Stop In Time flipped me upside down with all of the mind blowing moments.

I love entering the worlds that Boldt has created in the past few years, the heroines are bold, bright, and completely kickass. She writes these take charge women who never wait to be rescued, but instead, by the pure definition alone, should be the hero, but each of these books run in the morally gray area...so hero, anti-hero...any way you slice it...I love everything about these worlds, the characters, and how the plots all fit together. Her books are addictive and A Stop In Time is another hit!!

Mac, Mackenzie, Ford has been alone for a long time. Her walls are so high and so thick, it's made her snark and sass super strong (I loved Mac's snark...oh my it was fantastic!!) to survive the small town she lives in. Why is she alone? The left side of her body is scarred from a accident and she works in a predominantly male dominated job, but after a life of feeling ostracized she actually prefers being alone, it's easier. It's easier until one man turns her world upside down.

When Daniel Madrano rolls into town asking questions and looking for a guy named Mac, he never pictured a beautiful, strong woman who gave just as much as he could. Especially one who could stop time. Yeah, that part freaked him out for just a moment, but if he hadn't already met Georgia, Bronson's woman who had unique abilities of her own, Mac's time stopping skills would have shocked him more. The part that did amaze him was the connection he felt, the instant sort of bond that drew him to her, one he'd never felt with anyone before and that scared him more than anything.

These two together are, for lack of a better term, magic. The pure sass that Mac gives Daniel, or as she calls him over and over again, Danny, just to get under his skin, is brilliant. Even when she finds out that he's a known gang member, a dangerous man, she never lets up. Her strength, determination is one of the best things I loved about the book, and a very close second was Daniel's tenacity and love for those he holds close.

There were so many great twists to this story and while this book stands completely on its own, reading Beyond My Darkness may give some insight and background into where Daniel comes from and the other characters in his life.

Mackenzie, a young woman whose left side all the way down to her left ankle is scarred. She wants someone to love her for who she is. As someone who is also scarred, I want someone as well to love me for who I am as well. Emilia and Daniel had a hard life since their mom passed & Reggie, their father is an abusive, narcissistic jerk. My heart broke when Emilia left and left Daniel behind but promised she’d return for him.

The twists and turns of this book have been absolutely gobsmacking amazing. Mac & Daniel’s meeting in Freebird was hysterical to read but then turned so sweet when their attraction to each other for “one night” was absolutely adorable.

This book was absolutely addictive.. I loved the bonus chapter so much

This story was worth the book hangover. It was fast paced, action packed, and unlike anything I’ve read before. The paranormal element was intriguing and the dark and twisted storyline had me glued to my seat until the very end. I absolutely loved the bonus chapter. It was an unexpected surprise and a great way to end this incredible story.

Mac Ford is a girl with a past she can barely remember but has major scarring across the left side over her body, most of which she has decided to cover with tattoos. Daniel is the second in command of a notorious gang but is out searching for his sister’s kiIler.

With short chapters, a good amount of spice without being overkill, Mac and Daniel work together to solve his sister’s murder.

Though this book’s synopsis didn’t give me much idea about what was going to happen, I went in apprehensive because it’s outside of my preferred genre. Thankfully, Boldt hooked me right away with the dual point of view (with a few chapters from a third character) that left me with more and more questions as the book progressed. Boldt artfully threw plot twists into the story that kept me on my toes about what would be revealed next. Some plot twists weren’t predictable but not down to the details that were provided in the story.

If you like morally grey characters, murder mysteries, thrillers, girls with scars, gang member men, then give this book a shot!

Mac and Daniel…whew. This was an intense book. Once I started reading I couldn’t stop until I read the very last page. I was kept on my toes until the end. What a mystery! And the chemistry between Mac and Danny…wowza!! Highly, highly recommend this book!

After reading and loving Beyond My Darkness, I wondered how RC Boldt would follow up that uniquely suspenseful story. A Stop in Time more that answered the question. You don't need to read Beyond My Darkness to enjoy A Stop in Time thoroughly, but if you want to read it, you can thank me later for getting two great book recommendations for the price of one with this review.

Mac Reid lives in a small Florida town (think country, not Miami); she runs a salvage yard, knows about cars and parts, is strong and fierce, and is plagued by gaps in her memory. She is also scarred on her left side, making her an object of pity or ridicule by most of the redneck men in her town. She's tough, handles them with her sharp, dry sarcasm, and moves on. Enter Daniel Mandrano, the second in command of one of the most feared gangs in Florida, the Scorpions. He's tracking down information on who might have had a hand in the death of his sister. His clues eventually lead to the small town where Mac lives and works. Their meeting is electrifying and leads deeper into the story.

This book is a mystery because, along with Mac, you're trying to figure out these gaps in her memory. It's suspenseful because you know something terrible is coming, and you're wondering how Mac and Daniel will be able to battle it. Once again, the mysterious stranger from Beyond My Darkness shows up, offering cryptic clues. Daniel is struggling with his growing attraction to Mac and her pushing him away, along with a mystery surrounding his sister's death far more significant than anything he anticipated. Oh, and did I mention that Mac can stop time? Yeah, that adds another level of both suspense and humor to the story.

The pacing is set, so you don't get bogged down, and the story keeps moving, keeping your emotions and interest high. Mac and Daniels story is not easy; there is much hurt, guilt, anger, and self-forgiveness both characters must work through to reach their HEA. I appreciate the author made the characters do the healing work and the struggles they faced. Then there is the steam; holy smokes, the smexy times are hot.

I was torn between a four and five-star rating for this story, but its uniqueness added to the emotional weight of both characters' backstories balanced with on-point banter, and steam pushed it to five stars. A definite must read.
