There is a lot to unpack in this second installment and I don't want to spoil the story so I'm going to refrain from going over the specifics. Here is what you need to know - the four Idols (Bryce, Rufio, Phoenix, and Morpheus) are all still drawn to Daisy while partly being suspicious of why that would be since she's just a Norm. We learn more about Daisy's background and the players that either want her dead and badly or those that have set her up to be protected, that have waited patiently to see if Daisy will come into her own so to speak. We still don't get that much of an explanation of far as individual powers of the Idols and Fringes or how it works, but we do get to see more of their powers in action which sort of serves as a pretty good guideline on the magic/power system. I would say that this is an acceptable entry into the series (though not as strong as the first book) which is enough to prompt me to continue to the third!
