As with all short story collections not all of these are exemplary but the opening and closing novellas are OUTSTANDING.

The Crimson Fist - Bit slow, not too bad 3/5
Prince of Crows - Bit crazy, not too bad 3/5
The Dark King - Small 2/5
The Lightning Tower - Boring Dorn 2/5
Death of a Silversmith - Nice bit of a human backstory 5/5
The Kaban Project - What happens when your AI isn't 3 laws safe! 4/5
Raven's Flight - Like reading a long shrug 2/5

After this book I liked Dorn less and Curze more, who would have thought it.
Overall 3/5

Bit mixed, with some exceptional fiction (from Abnett, Thorpe and Dembski-Bowden), and some above-par fiction as well. Aaron DB's closer was easily the best in the book, and I can't wait for his next Heresy novel (Betrayer - out April 2013).

By the Emperor — I didn’t think I’d ever read an anthology where every story was a 5-star read. I was wrong.
