Incredible read! This is the first book I picked up solely because of the author, and it did not disappoint.

Rita Hayworth and Shawshank Redemption is an easy 5 ⭐ The plot is compelling, much more so its characters.

5 ⭐ as well to Apt Pupil. It was so intense that I had to put the book down for a day. Yet, I couldn’t stop reading because I genuinely had no idea how it would end. The story could have gone in several different directions, and by the end, I was left in awe, thinking about how Stephen King is indeed a master of horror.

The Body was lighter compared to the first two novellas. It was the first time this book made me laugh, though it didn’t lose any of its tension or dark undertones. 4 ⭐

I loved The Breathing Method, but it felt too short, to be honest. The stories the narrator didn’t share left me frustrated, and the ending made me crave for more details and a continuation that's why I'm giving it a 4.5 ⭐

This collection has quickly become one of my favorites, and I can already see a reread in my future.

1° conto

história fixolass estive um pouco reticente durante quase o livro todo menos na parte final (ficou mais empolgante and a page turner kind of story)
Tem uma forma diferente de escrever neste conto (not usual from Stephen king (i think))

Achei um pouco difícil de acompanhar, eram muitos nomes e um pouco all over the place a escrita.

Ok, 2nd conto.

Bitch what. Han?

Its a story mas not the usual type pf exciting story.

About apt pupil. Bro if animal cruelty isnt your thing its not worth reading it. The whole book is scary, but not in a suspense, instigating book, but in a psychopath, passive manipulative, toxic, insensitive, uncomfortable, nazist, stupid undiscussable topic, book.

It puts us in the perspective of nazi supporters. And its messed up.
I mean if u are interested in holocaust, i mean is kinda interesting to hate even more on nazi ppl.

I can sum up this novella with: disturbing, obsession

3° conto- "the body"

4 estrelinhas

Depois de ler o livro fui ver  o filme ("stand by me")
Bro ERA EXATAMENTE COMO IMAGINEI.

Mas doesnt mean I didint like like

4o conto

This was my first Stephen King book, recommended to me by a Stephen King-loving friend. These seemingly unconnected four stories actually have similar themes throughout - fear, hope, and an uncertainty in their relationships. Rita Hayworth & the Shawshank Redemption was the most emotional - I had seen the movie but was still moved by the incredible story of resilience and determination. Apt Pupil was the most horrifying - this meeting of the minds between two psychopaths is not for the faint of heart. I really enjoyed The Body and The Breathing Method as well! All in all, a great introduction to an iconic author!

RITA HAYWORTH AND SHAWSHANK REDEMPTION
⭐⭐⭐⭐🌟/5

Just one of the best things King has ever written, in a little over 100 pages. The film does absolute justice to the story (though I'm pretty sure Red was originally a redhead, and Andy is supposed to be short 😂) and it lives rent-free in my heart.

It's amazing how much is packed into such a short story, given how long some of King's books go on (I'm looking at you, The Dead Zone). Andy Dufresne is almost deified the way Red tells it, because he represents hope when life is at its most hopeless. And that's what the whole novella is about, and how it ends. With hope.

APT PUPIL
⭐⭐⭐⭐/5

In stark contrast to Shawshank, there's no hope to be found in Apt Pupil. It's a study of darkness, and it only gets darker as it goes on. As the longest of the four stories by far, it's heavy. Todd scares me a lot more than Dussander as he sets everything in motion, and their association just gets creepier. I'd forgotten almost everything about this story except that ending, which haunts me.

THE BODY
⭐⭐⭐⭐/5

The first half of this is 3⭐, the second half is a solid 5⭐. It's the classic coming of age story, but has so much beauty and melancholy as the boys get further into their journey and Gordie becomes more reflective. Chris is just a wonderful character.

THE BREATHING METHOD
⭐⭐⭐/5

Wow. I mean... I read this 20 years ago and didn't remember any part of it. I think I repressed it. Only in Stephen King's mind could the Lamaze Method = horror story...

Rita Hayworth and the Shawshank Redemption is at least a 4/5, but I was not particularly a fan of the other three stories. And as shocking as this will sound, The Body (Stand by Me film), was quite underwhelming after all the good I heard about it for years.

Took this book on my friend book shelve and did not realize it was THIS book. I did not read the back and to honest I choose it based on the relativly small size.

This did not disappoint! On page 1 I realized a was reading a movie I had watch at least 5 times before.

The book is even better than the movie and is worth it! Read it in two setting in one day and loved it!
