I picked up Cherry at a friend's of the library book sale because every random page I opened had something shocking or obscene. This book has a brick on the gas pedal, a knee on the steering wheel, and uses both hands to shoot up heroin while driving. This is a hard, dark, fast book—all drugs and violence and truama. White knuckle the cover and huff some duster. You'll make it through.

Yet another book I had no business buying but thought the cover was cool enough and bought it anyway only to later find out that I am definitely not the target audience for it.

This book wasn't bad overall, it was very interesting to see things through the point of view of a person struggling with chemical dependence. With that being said, I would definitely have enjoyed it a whole lot more if contemporary novels about war/crime were my thing.

Good book, but hard to read. One of those books that I'm glad I read, but will never read again. Not recommended for war veterans or those who have been experienced life in a war zone. A very honest and accurate depiction of the Iraq War and risks retraumatizing those who experienced war.

Not really sure how I felt about this book, but I can’t stop thinking about the line:
“Days came like dead moths on the bathroom counter.”
Will probably reread eventually.

This wasn't really for me. I kept going because it was just compelling enough that I wanted to know what happened, I suppose, but what did happen was.... eh. And the rampant misogyny throughout was just... a lot. Occasionally, there were some funny bits, and I really like the red skull cover, but glad to move on.
