Good book, but hard to read. One of those books that I'm glad I read, but will never read again. Not recommended for war veterans or those who have been experienced life in a war zone. A very honest and accurate depiction of the Iraq War and risks retraumatizing those who experienced war.

Not my fave. It reminded me a lot of Catcher in the Rye, another book with an unlikeable narrator rambling and a struggle to pull out a plot. There were a lot of acronyms and slang terms I felt at sea with. Overall just not the book for me.

Raw, emotional, and dramatic this book is an intense look at the ramifications of addiction on one's life, and how often we end up victims of our own design. From the opening of the book, the narrator is never meant to be loveable or sympathetic, but rather a raw look at addiction through the eyes of a clueless, entitled kid.

This wasn't really for me. I kept going because it was just compelling enough that I wanted to know what happened, I suppose, but what did happen was.... eh. And the rampant misogyny throughout was just... a lot. Occasionally, there were some funny bits, and I really like the red skull cover, but glad to move on.
