In a reversal of one of my usual complaints about books...the first 2/3 was meh and the last 1/3 I enjoyed quite a bit.

A bit too much focus on the romance, a few too many tacked on post scripts, but, a rewarding end to the series.

Not disappointing at all! Sad to see this series come to an end. Really brutal ending. Kind of want to read it again to feel all the feels again and try to understand better what the author was trying to do.

Kate Elliott is a genius, this is an exceptional piece of decolonization work, I still think about this series regularly, both because it is excellent and become there are some horrifyingly visceral scenes in it.

I probably couldn’t ask for a better ending to this series than I got right here. It’s taken me FOREVER, but I’ve finished Court of Fives, and it’s just as good as I hoped it’d be.

The world building here is superb, and I just love how mysteries from the first book are wrapped up and solved (especially Wenru!). The characters stay very true to themselves, and while some pieces are very predictable, Buried Heart very much sticks the landing.

Very, very satisfying.

This was a great ending to an interesting trilogy. The book started of really strong. There were a lot of intriguing moments and a good ending.
