Amazing. All the stars. This book feels important. Takes a spot on the shelf next to American Gods as a must-read modern folk tale masterpiece. Feels like something that will become a classic in fantasy mystery horror.

This book was a wonderful blend of history, folklore, and fiction. I loved how the author weaved the stories of the Russian pogroms with the traditional stories of baba yaga. The ending was fantastic, and my only complaint was that this story has some half-baked plot points, and the pace was a bit slow in the beginning/middle but overall... so so good. Wonderful book and so different from most stories I've read before.

A very enjoyable read - it was a little slow to start but the characters are endearing and I LOVED the house. I feel like that was something special for child me.

I enjoyed Nethercott's writing and look forward to reading more of her work

I liked the idea of the story. I liked Thistlefoot and Hubcap and other side characters. There were areas the pacing slowed and weren't really necessary for the story.
