i feel like i just got a behind the scenes exclusive on one of those british baking shows. like we got to see all the pretty cakes but also who's fucking who yk ?

i'm a slut for grumpy x sunshine so if i had known that's what this was i probably would have read way sooner

the concept of this adorable baker romance intertwining with a royal romance & their wedding cake was something i absolutely ate up and would do so again. it's swoony, tender, and hits you in the heart in all the right places.

the only thing that got to me was like i swear they went from hating each other to making out ?? like yea that's usually how it goes but i had to page flip for a few seconds to understand how we went from being civil to on the floor

2.5 stars. Parker releases are usually among my drop-everything-and-enjoy reads, but the new marketing direction of this one had me a little suspicious. It seemed designed to bandwagon with the recent flood of light contemporary rom-coms, which are one thing, but I've spent years enthusiastically suggesting the London Celebrities series as a cut above the rest. Perhaps it's the beating my reading life has taken in the last two years, but though this was fine-ish, my fears appear to have been justified.

This has lightness, even a bit of the zany, but it lacks the snap and crackle I find irresistible in my escapism choices. Many a reader will disagree, but blending Great British Bake Off satire, Hallmark movie templates, The Crown-style family and relationship baggage, and no fewer than seven additional storylines for major or secondary characters dilutes the sharpness, poignancy, and wit I personally had come to adore.

This was super cute! It has everything I love British Bakeoff, Grumpy-sunshine, competition, Royals, and sabotage. Dominic gave me major Simon Cowell/Paul Hollywood vibes. I loved reading how he opened up over the course of the book and how sweet he actually was. I would defiantly read this again if in the mood for a cute chick lit. This also ended perfectly for the opening to the next book.

this book had a unique and interesting set-up, excellent chemistry/dialogue between characters, and really stand-up imagery and character building.

if ur looking for a quality romcom that will have u genuinely laughing while also falling in love w the characters, i highly recommend this book.

i have read many romcoms in the past and this one really stands at the top simply bc of the interesting plot, characters, and quality story building.

there were a couple things i could see people finding fault in, specifically when it came to more cheesy romance aspects of the novel, but honestly idc because that's how much i liked it as a whole.

i just finished and i already want to re-read. so good..
