Enjoyed this way more than I thought I would! The drawings of the ballerinas dancing are really appealing. I like how this book shows the connection between working hard at a skill as a child and the resulting success as an adult. Little girls often ask me for books about ballerinas and this would be perfect!

Just lovely, a wonderful contrast between the two characters that brings to the fore a subtle multicultural awareness.

Young Emma and professional ballerina Julia's days parallel each other in many ways, culminating when Emma goes to see Julia dance.

6 skills: great for narrative skills as the character's days parallel each other, good vocabulary

Too much repetition for me.
