This series is amazing! Many times I reread books, because I love them so much. Or I want to revisit a world they created. Or I want to read something I know I will love. I tend to read too quickly. so I usually miss out on stuff. I have reread this series at least 3 times that I can think of. Once in the last year, since I moved to Canada. Since 4 out of the six books in this series are in my storage locker in Seattle, I had to buy them again. I don't care. I like having them around.

Lot's of sexy. But in a more sensual sense, not overly gratuitous.

I enjoyed this one as much as I enjoyed all the others. It is extremely dramatic and emotional, and I ate it up.

Wow. I just... Huh. I really, really enjoyed this conclusion to Imriel's story. It wasn't quite what I expected, but I loved it all the same. I hopes that it would turn into another series, though I guess the Namaah's series follows this one.

Much better than the previous book. We finally got the introduction to Sidonie's unique personality that we've deserved since Kushiel's Scion, though it's frustrating that much of it had to come through the eyes of Leander Maignard. On the plus side, the Leander section was a fun read; Leander is a great character and I love his voice and personality.

SpoilerThe only nitpicky thing I'd have changed about this book is Imriel's realization of where Bodeshmun had hidden the demon stone. In the book, Imriel is filled with the light of Elua and his companions and starts to speak out against the impending civil war, but Ysandre has somebody wallop him in the back of the head and knock him out. Then when he comes to, he looks up at the gem painting at a sideways angle from where he's lying on the floor, and realizes that Bodeshmun's 'demon tornado' symbol was worked into the gems that made up Elua's oak tree. But the tree had already been searched! The entire city was torn apart by gem hunters, and you want me to believe that nobody had thought to climb it and poke around? That seemed sloppy. First of all, I'd have had Imriel NOT lose consciousness when he gets brained, and stare at the gem painting in a daze while everybody files out of the Hall of Audience. Then he can have his whole "circles within circles" revelation while recovering, all the while staring at the painting, and it wouldn't be as unlikely as him simply glancing at it from a different angle and immediately seeing the symbol. Second, I'd have made the initial gem search a bit less extensive, perhaps limited to the few people who truly believe in Imriel (to some extent, considering they're all spellbound), and I'd have them only have searched the tree's roots, because that's what Imriel remembered from the night of the spell's casting. Anyway, tiny nitpick, but the way it happened was just a bit too much of a contrived convenience in an already flimsy magic plot.
