I wish Goodreads could provide half stars because this volume was way better compare to the first one. This series still has issues but it has improved over the crap that I experienced yesterday with the first volume. This series still lacks understanding about who are these Young Avengers. What doesn't help is we are introduced to new characters in this volume and yet we don't know who they are, what they represent for the some of the characters, and why they are working with this parasite.

In this volume we get to meet Prodigy who was part of the X-Men until his powers got fried? He has the ability to know everything about a person from their personal knowledge to their warfare tactics which comes in handy when dealing with villains. He meets up with the Young Avengers because Tommy aka Speed is Billy's brother and this villain named Patriot turned him into a grain of salt with a flicker of a finger. Right there I am confused over who is the patriot, why is Tommy important, and is this information useful?

Prodigy tells Billy and the rest of the gang and they are sent through weeks of going into different multiverses trying to find a way to catch up with Patriot and when they finally arrive lo and behold is it Mother's world and they escape except for Teddy and Prodigy. Now Billy and the rest of the cast are trying to find a way to defeat Mother or at least find a way to rescue Teddy.

I have to admit that for a young adult comic book things are spicing up. While Teddy and Prodigy are hiding in this creepy universe, they make a deal that if the gang doesn't arrive that they will kill each other instead of being tortured by the parasite and Prodigy who is very attractive kisses Teddy. I figured Prodigy liked men but I was definitely not expecting that to happen!

This volume solidified my position on whether I should keep going with this series or quit while I am ahead and for now i would love to continue. I have no idea about these characters and their backstory but between the drama and the action it is keeping me entertain. I haven't read any Thor comics to know much about Loki but I love this inner conflict that he suffers between doing the right thing vs getting what he wants no matter the cost. I genuinely feel like he wants to help out the Young Avengers but I am curious to learn about the whole dilemma with Wicca because from my understanding he is going to be a powerful sorcerer who will make and change the laws of magic.

The illustrations are phenomenal and I cannot get enough of it especially since they remind me of the Wicked + The Divine series. I seriously hope that by the next volume they will clarify everything about the Young Avengers. I was even tempted to read the read the 1st run of the Young Avengers circa 2005 but I believe that its nonsense to read a whole new set of characters and pointless plot if it doesn't have nothing to do with this relaunched series.

Speed is back. Love the exploration of the multiverse. Oh Prodigy why did u have to do that? The goodbye in the rain. That was heartbreaking but visually really beautiful. But the therapy group, dear god.

I still love all these characters but I kind of forgot some plot threads from [b:Young Avengers Vol. 1: Style > Substance|22090768|Young Avengers Vol. 1 Style > Substance|Kieron Gillen|https://d.gr-assets.com/books/1400120043s/22090768.jpg|41432274]?? I still really enjoyed it.
