This book pretty much gave me the push I needed to make some drastic changes with my social media habits. I didn’t delete my accounts because of the blog but I did remove all social media accounts from my phone. So if this book convincing, yes! Yes it is.

A solid primer on the evils of social media. The style is a bit wayward, but I found it refreshingly fun and easy to read. More of a jumping-off point than a fully developed treatise - but sometimes that is better!

I also think his chapter debunking the quasi-religion of AI and machine intelligence in Silicon Valley is excellent.

An interesting book that feels like the start of this conversation rather than the definitive text on it. I liked the author's writing style and appreciated the admission of him not knowing everything and having a specific viewpoint to their argument; having worked within the tech/silicone valley world.
It is a very American centered book, despite small parts commenting on World events, and the argument that philosophises about social media's effect on religion and spirituality lost me.
I would recommend it to anyone that doesn't understand how algorithms work or how their data is used by companies.

A thorough look at the toxicity of social media. While my accounts still exist, I have debated on deleting them for years. Noticing an uptick in my own mental health, and thanks to this collection of essays, I do see myself deleting them in the future.
