Meh? 2.5 stars for me means: Am I glad I read it? No. Am I upset I read it? No. Just neutral.

I think part of the problem for me is that I was told that it was a story where every character is a villain, but that's not the case? So it felt like a bit of a let down in that sense. I also feel that as a stand alone, it tried to include too much about too many characters, which ends up beinf surface level for everyone. I think it would have been better as a duology.

3.75⭐️ It lacked the angst and sometimes feel stagnant ngl I want it like wolf & wildflower, but I’m always down for fated mates and obsessed mmc. As always I love how romantic Ella wrote her mmc aka new book boyfriend everytime and yes thank god for fantasy standalone, could escape from series

This is the second Ella Fields book I have read and she has fast become one of my favourite authors.

I enjoyed the plot of this book, the fated mates/enemies to lovers aspect was good, although I wish that the main character took a little longer to get over her betrayal but as it’s a standalone there isn’t much time to spend on that.

I enjoyed the 2 main characters, I love how the male main character was introduced (in a dungeon). I love how Fi has a special connections with the different creatures she come by and her caring nature for them.
I enjoyed the banter and found family found in the side characters.

Overall this was a good fantasy story with a good plot and good amounts of romance and spice, although it is rushed a little is some scenes.

5 ⭐️’s - when I brought this book I was looking for a standalone romance fantasy. I got that and so much more, I adored this book. Colvin and Fia are so cute together and the chemistry and tension between them from the start was just amazing and had me hooked. The plot was amazing, the drama, the characters, the writing, the spicy stuff….everything was just
