Loved learning more about Pedro and Ramon. Any Red Sox fan would find this book enjoyable but all baseball fans will find this rags to riches story inspiring.

I love when I read books that make me excited and wanting to talk about a book.
This one did that.
Very well written, the author captured the magic and the determination of this man.

This is a beautifully illustrated baseball biography. I plan on getting all baseball books drawn by Matt Tavares.

Beautiful photo-realistic paintings in this picture book biography of Pedro Martinez, his youth in the Dominican Republic with his older brother Ramon who was his inspiration and competition.

I expected this to be much more about Pedro Martinez, but it's really about Pedro's relationship with his brother. An excellent offering from Tavares.

I love that the author tells the story of Pedro's life through the lense of his relationship with his older brother. A very interesting biography that will enthrall kids, whether they are interested in baseball or not.

F&P Level N. Awesome biography picture book for older readers. Could cross-reference with newspaper articles.

I know close to nothing about baseball, but I enjoyed this nonfiction picture book regardless! This is an engaging and inspiring story.
