Thoroughly enjoyed the read. Unrequited love had always been my weakness. Definitely moved at a fast pace and had me wondering where it was going!

And you definitely will become familiar with the word reckless. Pretty sure it's used about 40 times!

Gabriel was very controling and kinda an ass, Phoebe was cool sometimes but TSTL for sure, although she saves herself a few times and I liked that about her. The plot depends on Gabriel not talking to her, being extremely rude and not trusting anyone, and on Phoebe being stubborn for no reason and trusting everyone without second thought, and being stupid. Sadly, DNF at 75% cause couldn't take them anymore and the "mistery" was of no interest to me.

Reckless
4 Stars

The revenge/ secrets tropes have the potential of going seriously wrong. Thankfully, Quick does an admirable job of keeping the angst to a minimum by writing two of the most straightforward characters in Romanclandia.

Phoebe is a delightful heroine who is incapable of keeping her opinions to herself for even one second and Gabriel's armor might be tarnished, but he is a knight nevertheless.

The first half of the storyline revolving around Gabriel's history with Phoebe and her family is wonderful and the chemistry between the leads is tangible. The plot does begin to lag during the second half with Phoebe and Gabriel's reactions to the unsurprising appearance of the villain. It is at this point that Phoebe's intelligence and Gabriel's charm vanish for a few chapters.

Thankfully, everything is ultimately sorted out, but this is an Amanda Quick novel after all, so no big surprise there either.

Looking forward to continuing with my read through of Quick's backlist.

Reckless is an overly dramatic fun time. I loved the characters, the setting, the side characters, and pretty much everything about the book. The sex scenes were at times cringy with the language used (ie: the hero is a stallion). I had such a fun time, I will definitely read another Amanda Quick novel. 4.5 stars.

I love it when Amanda Quick added more comedy, action, adventures, and family dynamics into her well-used romance formula.

I enjoyed myself greatly reading the first 3/4 of the book, but after the marriage it did slow down and become a bit of a slog to finish, which is odd as there were lots of things happening that were enjoyable. There were just aspects of the characters that I found difficult and only seemed to be there to continue emphasizing things in their personality that had already been well developed before their marriage as a means to create tension (which wasn't successful and only distracted from developing the character or relationship further beyond those already established elements). I just couldn't understand why Gabe would be so "you do what I tell you" as he knows more than most that she is not going to do that or to even talk things out with her regarding decisions. And for Phoebe her getting drawn into Neil's lies or even being willing to listen to him or want his side of the story when she has also said she believes Gabe's side...?? The last 1/4 just gets a little bogged down with things like this and I felt it really kept Phoebe and Gabe from exploring their relationship fully or taking on the problem together which would have been nice as their romance is pretty rushed at the beginning of their marriage and having that time with them during the events of the later half of the book would have really pushed this book into 4 or possibly even 5 stars for me. I just wanted more but I did greatly enjoy the vast majority of what I got.

Amanda Quick might be formulaic but I really love the formula. Only complaint was I got a little sick of the same arguments

An unusual rating from me for an Amanda Quick novel. The main characters were annoying, and, sadly , they deserved each other. It's been in my library for a very long time but now it's time for the donation bag.
