Such a beautiful way to finish off the quartet. This was the book I remembered the least, and it was definitely the most emotionally intense. Pierce is a skilled storyteller, although these books move extremely quickly (almost a little too quickly sometimes), and as an adult, I would have loved it to slow down a touch.

That said, I was so pleasantly surprised at how well these books stood up to my memory. They are by no means perfect or particularly culturally sensitive, but the characterization and world-building are strong. I look forward to sharing them with my kids (especially my daughter) someday
