So yeah, we are back to Death Note. Did I expect this volume to be as good as it was? No, but if I knew before reading this one that I'll read the whole series, now I am sure of it.
Holly hell this was good. And I have two main reasons why:
a) L ... this guy... I love his aesthetic; this dude is smart as shit not to mention that he's extremely good-looking (that shouldn't be relevant but sorry it is... if I am reading manga I am allowed to include appearance as an important thing about a character) and he's so much more relatable than Light... like, he walks around barefoot... I do that all the time when at home
and b) Ryuk ... I don't think he was as hilarious in volume one... no, no he wasn't... because there were no APPLES... this was definitely the best scene in this manga when he (it? don't attack me for not using the right pronouns please... dude never specified if he identifies as a hedgehog or a hawk) acted like a stubborn lazy child who didn't get a cookie
So yeah, this volume was really good. Would recommend. And if you are still undecided let me try to convince you by saying that it sometimes gives off the same vibe as Six of Crows or La Casa de Papel. So yeah, you basically feel a bit dumber than usual but you are fine with it.
