Well i wasn't expecting that.
You know when you go into a book and you think you have it all figured out? That was me with this book. I thought I'd know what would go on and how i would feel but it was completely different.
Remington and Jules had chemistry and history is spades.
Jules i liked her, she wasn't as weak as i thought she'd be. She gave Remington a run for his money and she stood her ground.
Don't even get me started on Remington. He has that aura of broodiness and trouble seems to follow him but when he see's Jules again after all them years brings back a rush of feelings but also alot of anger.
I honestly really loved this book. I've always loved these types of books and this one was just what i needed.

SPOILERS BELOW :

I liked the idea of this book, but I felt it was a bit...lacking. Remmy was so “heartbroken” over Jules...so I’m thinking she must have f*cked him over right? But all she did was move. She was 15 bro she has no control over the fact that her dad made her move with him. Like you’re so angry all over that? Then he finds out her brother and dad died...and we never find out HOW they died, and he never says he’s sorry for her loss...nothing. He makes it about him! I also do not condone or enjoy reading things where the H forces the h to do something sexual. Remington was so angry, one of the first things he does is command her to suck his dick? He was definitely going to force her until she punched him. Then he fingers her without her permission? Oh hell no. Idc if the author wrote that Jules liked it...the fact is she said NO and she was scared and he assaulted her. So all the guilt and the “oh I love her so much” after really didn’t do it for me because that isht isn’t okay. Yeah he made up for being terrible near the end...but nothing in my mind makes up for forced sexual play. Not onless it’s like a fantasy with safe words. I just felt the storyline was warped and his anger was misplaced and didn’t make sense at all. Then he just changes into a better person halfway through? No. I liked the supporting characters in his family, but I just didn’t like Remington. I usually don’t leave a review if I don’t enjoy a book but the forced sexual nature of this book really gets to me as well as the unrealistic events and storyline that takes place.

The hero tries to touch her without her consent, using intimidation and strenght MULTIPLE TIMES. She tells him to get off and he doesn’t, he keeps going. THIS IS NOT OK.

It’s 2019 and i still don’t understand why people try to romanticize this stuff. And obviusly the little virgin heroine can forgive him and she is still turned on even if she knows it’s wrong?!

This books contains themes like revenge porn and rape dates ( almost ) and i don’t think they were dealt properly.

I’m actually going to bump this up a star to 4. When I first read it I gave it only 3. While re-reading this, I figured out pretty much immediately why I had gone with 3 stars the first time around.

This is a bully romance, which is one of my favorite genres. The one thing nearly every bully romance has to deal with is *THE REASON*. You know, the reason why our antihero has decided he’s going to bully our heroine. Some bully romances withhold the reason for the bullying from us, I’m not a fan of this. Fortunately, most bully romances lay it out for us, as does this one. Unfortunately, this is possibly one of the dumbest reasons I’ve ever read.

Jules’ parents divorced when she was 15. Jules’ did not have a good relationship with her workaholic mother so she goes with her brother to live with their dad. Sadly their dad is moving away. Remington decided instantly that he hated her after she told him she was moving. He’s apparently been secretly in love with her for years. So this doesn’t check out. He’s supposedly reasoned this out to ‘protect’ himself from being hurt - which clearly hasn’t worked like he hoped. We are also told his mother abandoned them - so extra triggered apparently. I also get that he’s only 15 and super immature but none of this comes out particularly believable. There is nothing rational about being so angry that you instantly hate the 15 year old girl you love for years for having to move away. It’s not her fault her parents divorced. It’s not her fault her dad moved. She’s a minor. She literally had no choice.

Okay, setting aside my rant, for previously rating this lower. There are reasons I increased my rating. I quiet enjoy this writing duo’s books. They sometimes miss HARD with their *REASON* but not always and even when they do I can typically put it aside because the book itself is well written and enjoyable. They also overplay how much the bully hates the heroine but it just seems to be their shtick.

I think Jules is a good heroine. She’s a good mix of soft and strong. I liked how she handled Remy, most of the time. I liked her and Remy together. I loved her relationship with Remy’s family.

Remy did a truly terrible thing. I know we see Jules essentially shut down. I know some might see this as weak but it came across strong to me. Many bullied heroines forgive WAY TOO SOON. Her shutting down kept her far away from Remy who wouldn’t have been able to resist trying to win her back. It allowed some grueling heartache and punishment for Remy.

I thought it was perfect that she automatically called Remington instead of the police. Her mental journey to forgiveness was good.this definitely deserved that extra star.

I'm glad I read the book and didn't pay attention to the reviews because boy do people like to state the obvious. This a dark romance why would you read this as a rape survivor? Then what? You pat yourself on the back for telling people that water is wet?
Anyways this book has left me "shooked". I'm glad they got over their disagreement from early and we didn't have to live through angst and I could've predicted that
Spoilervideo biting him in the ass.

I’m fine with a man being dominant in books. But there were a few scenes that had a [email protected] vibe. “I’m going to punish you”… It wasn’t done well. I finished the book but it was not something I’d recommend .

I loved this book! I love romances between best friends and I love it even more when it’s a bully romance. I’ve been a total sucker for that trope lately and this one definitely did not disappoint! I was hooked right from the very beginning and I couldn’t put my kindle down.

Right away you can feel the pain that Remington has been holding onto after his best friend/love of his life, Jules, moved away a few years ago. He blames her for breaking his heart in the process and Jules has no idea just how hurt he is. So hurt, that he wants to make her feel the heartbreak just as much as he did.
So when Jules arrived at the same college as Remington, you can imagine just how many mixed feelings that stirs up! Our boy Remington hates that she’s back....or maybe that’s what he wants her to think.

This book really pulled on my heart strings and I felt the pain right along with both Remington and Jules. I can’t wait for the next story!
