I feel like this is a book that tremendously impacted me as a child. It taught me that being brave didn't mean that you weren't scared it meant you where yet you persevered despite it. One of the most underated heroines of all time.

Oh, my twitchy witchy girl!

Coraline the novel was sincerely the best set up for the film. The book in my opinion is even creepier than the movie, and I love it. It has so much character and charm.

Such a scary children’s story that has captivated me since the movie released back in 2009. There’s really nothing like it.

this was my second read and definitely not my last! Every time I read it, I can see/hear the film play in my head.

A cute, spooky little tale about a little girl who battles her “other mother” in order to be reunited with her family. Creepy, macabre, and hopeful. Coraline is a feisty, free-spirited, little girl who is learning how to be an adult while maintaining some of the wonder of childhood. Not exactly what I expected but it was enjoyable nonetheless.

I gave Coraline a quick re-read to bring the Halloween season into full swing and I had a great time doing it. I first read this when I was maybe 8 or 9 years old and it was one of the first books that really got me into reading. I love everything about it, but the thing I have always loved most about it is how Neil Gaiman's writing, even when it is geared toward children, is able to be universally enjoyed. The language never condescends and the book doesn't compromise on the horror aspect while still remaining kid-appropriate. Overall just my favorite middle grade book of all time.
