First of all, the book and film are not even a little similar and should be separated in your mind.
I’m really not sure how to rate this. First of all, the second half is very slow and the pacing was odd. Johannes does not show any character remorse or character development- he’s still very much indoctrinated within the nazi viewpoint. All the deaths are glossed over very quickly, and what this book boils down to is a very toxic and imbalanced relationship based on lies and manipulation. Not sure I’ll read it again
