I’m too old and fortunate to have found my love through dating apps and thank heavens .This is the story of generation x and the ups and downs of finding future forever love .
In my day in order to break up it required at least a phone call so i found it hard to imagine before reading this book how awful it would be if the person you thought you loved and were loved by had the ability to simply disappear and not reply to any messages .how much power the men who could do this would hold in a relationship .
Add in a family going through the bitter sweet experience of living with dementia and you have the perfect emotional storm
I loved particularly the authors descriptions of childhood memories and how they make you the adult you are , those endless summers that tree you played underneath that car your dad picked you up in when you really needed him.Everyone has their own versions of these snd I couldn’t help but brim up with my own remembering
I don’t usually pick up books when romance is mentioned in reviews or blurbs but I’m glad I read this book

Big fan of Dolly Alderton, but this book did not stack up to the previous ones I've read (Good Material and Everything I Know About Love).

I didn't love that Max just came back and she took him back - I know it eventually helped with her being brave enough to confront Jethro - but I almost wanted to see her be brave and progress and move forward without taking a step backward. What the heck happened with the neighbor?? That was wild... and weird.

My favorite book of 2021 - witty and poignant. Dolly does a good job of describing that dull, aching sadness that comes with growing older, growing apart, growing further and further away from childhood. I couldn't put this down.
