Amazing book! It's so popular but still underrated because of how good it is.
Plot:
South of Mirror Lake but North of Elm Grove, lies the town of Shady Hollow. All of its residents are animals with the intelligent traits of humans. Think Sing!, Zootopia, or Animal Crossing.
All of the townsfolk live in harmony. None would ever dream of changing that. But creatures aren't so sure when a toad is found floating in a pond with a knife in his belly. Dead.

Pros:
Amazing book! The mystery is complex and fun, the characters are lovable yet suspicious, and it will keep you on your toes.

Cons:
A bit hard to ease into, definitely complicated in some parts, but that's about it!

This was a cute little mystery set in a woodland world. I liked the atmosphere, but the mystery wasn’t grabbing me enough to make me too invested in the outcome. Not sure enough breadcrumbs we’re laid to make the ending satisfying enough, but I’m not regretting reading it.

This was such a cozy murder mystery! Some mystery books are very intense and have you biting your nails the whole time, but this one was very relaxing and comforting. I didn't know who the murderer was until the very end, and the plot was much more complex than I thought a book with animals as the main characters ever could be. I will definitely be reading the rest of the series!

A friend recommended this book to me, and what a strong recommendation! Beatrix Potter meets Agatha Christie in the cozy setting of Shady Hollow, a typically quiet small town now in a tizzy with the news that a murderer is in their midst! While the story is charming, Shady Hollow itself is the real star. You can feel the love the authors poured into the setting and the creatures living there on every page, making you want to spend just a little more time there––so much so that I almost missed my subway stop on more than one occasion while reading!

It was cliche and quite bland. Eh.
