I read this based on a recommendation and I wasn’t disappointed. It has the perfect mix of love, sex, action, and character development. I wasn’t sure about it at first because there’s a lot of military mentions, but it was amazing! I’m already so excited to read the next story! I’d highly recommend this if you like reading original stories and concepts, specifically about a monster apocalypse.

I was in love with Wyn and Danny almost immediately. They're good boys, your honor.

In particular, I liked that this book did a thing I usually struggle to stay invested with very, very well. Insecurity and constant miscommunication are often very grating to me but! I think this book did a wonderfully realistic job of that especially given the relationship experience Wyn and Danny both had.

Beyond that, they were incredibly sweet together. Wyn has wonderful moments of being nonhuman and of Danny struggling with understanding his thought process. And Danny, too, is very sweet for how he does try to understand and be sensitive about things they conflict on.

The sex scenes aren't written in the way I find most appealing but they're not bad and I think they do a wonderful job of showing the emotions at play during them. Plus, even if they aren't my usual style, they're really fun! I liked them a lot.

I'm interested in the world and its characters. Hopefully I get around to reading the next in the series soon. Even the fact I do not like military themes much in romance isn't dissuading me much here.

The worldbuilding is fun and engaging and I can't wait to see more of it.

Overall, I had a great time with this book and am interested in checking out more from the author.

This surprisingly took me off guard with just how GOOD it was - it had all the tropes I wanted, both Danny and Wyn being protective and soft with each other but rightfully angry at each other as they worked out their relationship. Both of them feel like outcasts, misunderstood and alone, but find themselves in each other.
Danny - gos I just LOVE him. Whilst the military isn’t for him, he knows what he wants and isn’t a pushover. He’s kind and stubborn and just so sweet that it breaks my heart. Also, when Wyn tries to send him away? He’s like, Fuchs that, I do what I want.
Wyn - I’m so glad that Danny can hug him because I want to. It’s the good old “I hate everyone but you” and god I eat that shit up. He’s so SWEET to Danny, and ugh I can’t take it. His possessiveness as well? Fucking brilliant.
Plus, the writing is just so GOOD. I love how it also built on the world slowly, never overwhelming but was delightful to read more about. It was nitty and gritty too, which is always good to see in a book like this.
This is probably classed as my first monster/human book but, to my own surprise, I adored it. I can’t stop thinking about this book.
