A cute, fluffy, if at times cheesy (but in a way I found endearing), romance between two friends who desire to be something more.

Dominic is a fixer for prominent figures, but can't seem to fix the problems in his own life caused by a deceitful ex and con artist parents. Jeannette is a shrewd Private Investigator who is invested in getting the answers her clients need. She is deeply prideful and is protective of the trust her clients - and loved ones - have in her.

Given the nature of their jobs, Dominic and Jeannette often cross paths and have worked a few cases together. Over the years, they have built a professional bond but have been hiding the crushes they have from one another for the sake of their careers. A weekend, work-related trip threatens their resolve as they are forced to face what they can no longer hide. (Forced proximity! Only one bed!).

This was a quick read. I read the first book in the series earlier this year and found that I enjoyed this novella better. It touched on themes such as loss, trust, and starting over. There is a bit of miscommunication trope in here, so that may not work for some readers. I plan to continue on in the series.
