An adventurous and endearing story, full of love, intrigue and history.
As always, a group of people affecting each other's lives with immense consequences.
The story and the intrigue trap the reader in a very entertaining wave.
Enjoyable.

This might be my favorite in the series.
Finally a book that did not follow the Follett-Formula.
The main characters are not constantly beaten down repeatedly till the last quarter of the book, and the villains did not prosper constantly, till the very end.
It was nice to see the good guys win.
I am also a big fan of Tudor history and know the Elizabeth/Mary story well. And I really enjoyed this mix of fiction and non fiction.

I loved the ending much more than I thought. It was super interesting to read this story while also learning about history of the Christian/Protestant wars in England, France and so on. Additionally loved the story of Mary queen of scots, since you only hear about her youth in books rather than her whole life.
This book took more creative liberties with historical figures than in the past, but would recommend!
