okok hear me out: this may be better than [b:Vampire Academy|345627|Vampire Academy (Vampire Academy, #1)|Richelle Mead|https://i.gr-assets.com/images/S/compressed.photo.goodreads.com/books/1361098973l/345627._SY75_.jpg|335933]. Not that I didn't love Vamp Acad and not that I didn't love Rose and Dimitri, but this one I just know is going in a better direction with the romance. CONTROVERSIAL I KNOW! Rose and Dimitri will forever be iconic but this duo just might, maybe, a teeny weeny tiny bit be better. I will say this one was very predictable, but if you are reading this for the thriller aspect and not the romance/drama then you are just a psychopath who has very low standards and have stumbled into the wrong genre.

I got halfway through this and I just can’t finish it. There is nothing of value with these characters, all one dimensional. Probably one of the worst things I’ve ever tried to read. To get halfway through a book with absolutely nothing going on. Not worth the time wasted.

This is an amazing book and a great addition to the series. I enjoyed reading the book because following Sydney is so different than Rose. The story is filled with wonderful twists and so much new stuff and yet it had enough of the Vampire Academy world to make it a satisfying read. I cannot wait for the next book because the ending to this one made me extremely excited! Read it and you will not be disappointed :)

Although I am not "Team Adrian" or whatever you like to call it, I enjoyed him still being involved. The ending has me excited though!

I can't decide between giving this 2 or 3 stars. I enjoyed most of it, but a couple of things in it REALLY bugged me. I don't feel like getting into it, they'd be spoilers anyway. I'll try the second book when it comes out, maybe.

I absolutely love the mysterious organization of the Alchemists from Vampire Academy and glad that this book focuses on Sydney. She's badass. Good intro to this series!

Very interesting to learn more about alchemists, and I always liked Sydney, even if she's a little more 'tight' than other characters in Vampire Academy. She really grew in this book, though, and finally learned to stand up for herself.

It was also refreshing to see Adrian grow, and want to be more than 'oh, but he's Adrian'... I am sure the next book will show more new things about him, though it does seem that he will have his work cut out for him!

Eddie was great, though a little too self-sacrificing.

Jill was still Jill. Young and naive, wanting to have some fun and most of all fit in! Like all young people her age.

SpoilerI was a little disappointed, though, because Ms. Mead had said that Dimitri would be in this book... There was some talk about him, but he only actually showed up in the very last line of the book.

All in all a very satisfying book, I look forward to more - this world is one I really, really like!

Almost better than Vampire Academy. Almost. But it's hard to make that call because Rose and Sydney are such different characters.

Vampire Academy is one of my favorite series, and definitely my favorite vampire series (after twilight) so far. I needed to continue the adventure in the spin-off series of Bloodlines by Richelle Mead.

Sydney Sage is an alchemist who is assigned to watch over Jill Dragomir, a royal Moroi and the only thing keeping Vasilisa Dragomir as Queen, after an attack at court. Eddie Castile is sent to be Jill's guardian, as he is a dhampir. Adrian Ivashkov is also sent with them to Palm Springs, but instead of going to the private school Amberwood, he is staying at Clarence's, a local Moroi who cares not of the court or royals.

In this book is Love, Science, Magic, Deaths, and of course Action. It took me a couple chapters to fully get into it, but wow. I was completely shocked by the last couple chapters. (And also that thing with Adrian and Jill, sorry no spoilers).

The Golden Lily, here i come…

It was an okay book with its ups and downs but the writing was not my cup of tea. Had some great ideas but the execution of them felt poor. There were many hilarious parts but that alone was not enough to keep me wanting to continue the book. I am honestly very disappointed and do not think I'll be reading anymore books by Richelle Mead :/
