Meghan Quinn did it once again. I don’t know what goes on in that woman’s mind, but I’m here for it because I fucking LOOOVE her books. Perfect spice, perfect slow burn, perfect humor and perfect love.

Hux was way sweeter than I thought he was going to be, like this man is so thoughtful and selfless. I mean it took a while for his walls to come down, but even then he was so thoughtful. Like he took her on a date to her favorite band 😭, and it’s in another state so they took his private jet. And he was so fucking cute with what he did for Jeff😭😭. And then his acts of dominance🥵. The spice in chapter 15??🥵🥵 And then the sweet vulnerability after 😩😭. And once he was able to be himself around her he was able to relax in the pool with her (which seems so small but it speaks so loud that he felt safe with her) 😩 and then he carried her up to bed and gave her his shirt when she asked. Then when she was going to make lunch for them— just a grilled cheese—he asked her to teach him😭😭. And then he burnt it🤣. Y’all, the scenes with Dave and Ellie were so out of hand like breast pump scene 🤦‍♀️🫣😭, and the fake baby one 🤣.

Summary:
After Lottie is fired from her job, she feels as if she’s hit rock bottom and will do anything to get a new job, hide the fact she was fired from her mother, and find a date to her high school reunion. So, she decides to walk around the rich neighborhood in her area. But never did she expect to find billionaire Huxley in need of a fake fiancé after idiotically telling a business colleague that he and his non-existent fiancé will have dinner with his business colleague and his fiancé. So they strike up a contract and then their lives change in ways they’d never expect.

Favorite quotes/scenes:

“If I found the right woman, I’d be far more interested in fucking her against every surface of my house rather than answering monotonous emails or buying a business partner a drink.”

“Think before you react, hit him back where it hurts. You know, something like . . . your, uh, hair . . . well, no, that’s nice. Maybe, that suit . . . hmm, it’s impeccably tailored. Wait, that’s a compliment. Oh, I know, your jaw is so tight . . . it’s actually quite symmetrical. His whole face, very symmetrical. Just an absolute specimen.” (Kelsey)

“Wow, wouldn’t have guessed this would be the immaculate proposal I’d get one day. Just ‘put it on your goddamn finger and don’t take it off.’ So romantic.”

“You’re late.”
“And that’s my coffee.”
I reach for it, but like a rabid beast, she hisses at me, causing me to pull back in absolute fear.
“Touch it and die,” she says in a deep, possessed voice.

“What the actual fuck are you doing here?”
“You didn’t give me a kiss goodbye.”
“Crawl up your own scrotum and drown.”

“This will change everything. You might still hate me, you might still not want to look at me, but you’ll damn well know, you fucking crave me.”

“I know watching me come turns you on, but if you could refrain from sounding like a barnyard animal while I come, that would be great. The mooing is a weird habit you’ve picked up.”
“That was one time. And it’s because I watched that documentary on animals reproducing.”
“One time is enough.”

Breaker: Did you at least congratulate Dave on his boner?
Huxley: When does a guy ever congratulate another guy on his boner? Breaker: Might be something nice to do. A solid pat on the back and then a compliment. “Nice bone, man.”
Huxley: Fuck knows why I talk to you two.

“No one has ever talked to me—argued with me—the way Lottie does. No one has seen me the way she sees me.”

“Did I or did I not have my mouth all over your cunt last night?”
“You . . . did.”
“Then that means I laid claim on this body. Understood?”
“Yes.”
“Good.”

“When I asked you what you’d want if it was a perfect world, you said to work with your sister, move out of your mom’s house, stick it to Angela, erase your student loans, and to have a place where you can lie in the rain without judgment. I told you I’d take care of all of it. I’ve come through on everything else. This is the last thing.”

“This is why I’m falling for this man. This right here. That smile. That kind heart. That attentive, sexy mind of his.”

“Lottie smiles, and . . . fuck . . . I like that smile. I’m obsessed with that smile. I’m obsessed with her.”

“Once I realized you were a temptation I couldn’t have, I shut down.”
“I see. And what am I now? Still a temptation?”
“Undeniably.”

“I’m fucking falling. I can feel it in my bones. She’s not what I was expecting. But she’s everything I fucking want.”

“And just like that, I’m a taken man. Fucking besotted. This is what I want. Her, in my arms. Exactly like this.”

“I want you in my house, in my room, in my bed. I want you on my couch, holding my hand while watching a show you’ve forced me to reluctantly binge. I want you in my pool, skinny-dipping like you enjoy so much. I want you on my roof, feeling the rain bounce off you during a storm. I want you at my dining room table, eating dinner next to me, giving me a hard time for whatever reason you come up with that day.”

“Aw, you act as if you’re attached.”
“I am. I’m very much attached to you, Lottie. I don’t know how you did it, but I’m addicted. You’re not going anywhere.”

“Request number five—Lottie realizes that Huxley is a shell of a man without her. That he not only craves her in his life, but he needs her in his life. She’s become a permanent fixture and not having her in his life is non-negotiable.’”

“Lottie, I love you. You’re beautifully frustrating, annoyingly right most of the time, and you bring me more joy than I ever thought I’d be lucky enough to have. You complement my surly attitude. You put me in my place when I need it, and you listen to me when I need a listening ear. Plain and simple, you complete me, and I know for certain, I can’t live this life without you in it.”

“Please tell me it’s a yes. Please tell me you’ll be mine forever.”
“I’m yours forever, Huxley.”
“Thank fuck. Do you like it?”
“I love it, just like I love you.”
“Looks like you snagged yourself a rich husband after all.”
“I think it was the braids.”
“It was the braids for sure.”

“I might not have known the outcome of saying yes to Huxley and his crazy scheme, but I’m so glad I did, because I can’t imagine what this life would be like without him.”

“You’re my best friend, Lottie. And my life is only better for it. I love you, wife-to-be.” “And I love you, husband-to-be, even with all your crazy.”

My gorgeous, sexy, incredible girl. Life will never be boring with this spitfire by my side. Rainy days will never be dismal. Life will be fun, adventurous, crazy, and better than I ever thought life could be. Better than I ever deserved.”

This was a really good book. It’s so hard for me to write reviews for me to focus on all the aspects because I love the book so much. Anyway, I loved Hux, then absolutely HATED him- I can’t understand why Kelsey was rooting for him during that time, he was a grade A asshole for no reason, same thing towards the end like back your sister bro- anyway then I loved him again. Their spice was chefs kiss impeccable, and their relationship grew in such a cute way. I love love love fake dating and this was perfect for it. I definitely would’ve enjoyed it more had I been in the mood for a [not so] meet-cute but it was so great, I loved it
