Dar' s view

Very good series. I never got board reading it. Nice twist on typical ideology. This is defiantly a must read again and I will add to my collection. Must read.

This is a set of novellas from Lyre and Ash's POV that are set throughout the series.

It was really interesting getting their POV on certain events that happened throughout the series. I actually wish I had read them chronologically with the series as I think it would have added more depth to their characters at the time and made certain choices make more sense. While I love both of them, Lyre's character is so fun and I particularly enjoyed the sections from his POV.

A fun collection of short stories that coincided with the events of the main series books. I really enjoyed revisiting parts of the Steel & Stone series from Ash and Lyre's points of view!

This definitely isn't the strongest work in the series, but it isn't trying to be the strongest. This is a collection of short stories telling or retelling events of the series from Lyre's and Ash's points of view, making this nothing but a little gift for fans of the series.

One of the reasons I enjoyed this is that Ash felt a whole lot more...human? Like, getting to see the first part of Chase the Dark damn near immediately endeared me to early series Ash in a way he hadn't been before. It was instantaneous and effective and I don't exactly know how to explain it, but it happened.

I also really loved getting to know Lyre better. Obviously, I'm incredibly glad he has his own spinoff trilogy, but I definitely feel like this series, The Steel and Stone Series, shafted him in terms of character development so it was awesome to get all these scenes we weren't privy to, like his visit to Asphodel during Bind the Soul and his intense fight with his family at the end of Unleash the Storm. It was really enjoyable, getting to know him a little better before I read his series (which will probably end up being later rather than sooner, because I'm hoping I can wait for the second and third books to come out on audiobook, but we'll see).

This was a fun little addition to the series and, honestly, I think I picked the best early birthday present for myself, because this series was rad and this collection of stories just served as the cherry on top of a sundae made out of fun.

I'm usually not one for short stories. I'm extremely picky when it comes to them...but while this was nothing revolutionary or mind-breaking, it was great to see Lyre in action. We so rarely got to see how truly skilled and amazing he is as a weaver.

...and Ash, as always, will be my forever love. Please, more dragon puppy piles.

Pretty much a waste of time. Just the same stories from other perspectives that don’t add anything helpful.

I appreciate that Marie made this companion book, it's a wonderful bit of fan service. The writing is of the standard readers will expect and it's always interesting to get another vantage point on a scene.

The rating is middling because a lot of the scenes Marie chose to revisit weren't ones I was curious about. Still worth a read, but my perspective is that this a missed opportunity to shed insight on different scenes than those chosen.

This collection of short stories was everything I didn't know I needed 💕

❤️Ash and Lyre
❤️Ash's initial reaction to Piper
❤️Lyre's behind the scenes weaving
❤️Lyre's past and who is this mysterious woman??
❤️An unfiltered glimpse into Ash's mind during....scenes
❤️SO MUCH ZWI YES❤️

So now as I fall into the depths of a book hangover, I will cling to the hope that the prequel and sequel series are actually happening because this world and these characters have become very near and dear to me, and I never want to leave 💕
