A very fast paced and funny adventure that absuletely kept me entertained throughout the 5,5 hours of this audiobook.
Sometimes I got lost in some passages that I might have just re-read but couldn't because of the format I got it in, but that only happened 2-3 times throughout the whole book and sometimes even cleared up later on, but that's totally on me and not the book.

I really liked this movie when I was younger, and always wanted to read the book because I heard it was a lot better. And though I can see how people who read it first would think that, and to be fair I haven't seen the movie in a while, I'm really not sure I would have liked it much if I didn't have the context of the movie. It was funny and entertaining, for sure, but it was also was extremely Written By A Man (i.e. somewhat sexist and with no real female characters?) and like, idk, I just would have found it pretty chaotic and hard to follow if I hadn't seen the movie first. I'm probably not going to read the rest of the series but I don't at all regret reading this one.Â
Graphic: Gun violence, Animal death, and Torture
Moderate: Suicide, Death, Body shaming, Sexism, Police brutality, Alcohol, Murder, and Violence
Minor: Xenophobia, Confinement, War, Ableism, Colonisation, and Genocide

A fun quick read, that can get a bit confusing at times when events get referenced before they are explained.Â
Worth a read, but won't reread. I haven't watched the film, but it would work great as a play.Â
A light-hearted intro to sci-fi for those who aren't ready for the 'heavier' works in the genre.
